First of all, my friend Cami, has an AWESOME idea for an entry closet.
Isn't it beautiful? I love the paint color and the BeadBoard/Wainscoting.
I have the same problem at my house -- nobody uses hangers. I used to have a coat rack by the front door, but it looks so messy and it's in the way. I haven't done any painting or purchased any matching hooks yet, but I took what I had and put it in my closet. I think it works great! Our entry closet is really weird because it is over a stairwell so it has a 2 foot tall carpeted base thing in it. My kids can stand on it and hang their coats and backpacks on the coat racks inside. I also put a bin inside for gloves and hats and such. Best of all, I can close the closet, so my entryway always looks neat and tidy. Here's mine:
Last summer, we went to visit my mother-in-law, Patty. She had a GREAT idea for a jewelry organizer. You know those metal DVD/CD holders? She had one sitting on her bathroom counter with all of her earrings, watches, necklaces, bracelets, and even glasses hanging on it. I HAD to get one! I found one at the D.I. for $3.00. It doesn't hold pierced earrings, but I love it because it holds all my long dangly ones and keeps everything separated. Really nice at 8:47am on Sunday when church starts at 9am. Here's mine:

P.S. While google-ing the spelling of the word "dangly" I also found this great idea. Very cute, but I like mine better. It's bigger and cheaper and I didn't have to make it!Also, I have several baskets in my bathroom closet. I got this idea from Zeke's Aunt, Barb.
One has hair "stuff": brushes, combs, spray bottle, scrunchies, headbands, etc. When I'm fixing the girls hair, I just grab the hair basket and take it to them. Nice for traveling because it's all ready to go and it has a lid with a zipper. (Originally, I bought it as a package of plastic Easter eggs and then saved the container).
I also have one full of Kaia's asthma medications and equipment so it's ready to go when we need it. I also have some ibuprofen and a thermometer in there as well. Nice to have it all together when Kaia wakes up at 2am needing a breathing treatment.
My favorite basket is our "Mani/Pedi" basket. It has all of our nail polish, nail polish remover, nail clippers, filers, cotton balls, toe separators, etc. Everything we need in one basket. The girls and I love to paint our toenails together.
Oh and this isn't an organization tip, but it's a great how-to tip! I'm always having trouble opening those plastic/foil/stronger-than-iron pill packages. One day, Zeke said, "Well, just break the seal with the corner of another pill package." BRILLIANT! Fight fire with fire, right? Seriously, this is awesome. It works so well... tell your grandparents/parents and goofy people like me who aren't very good at opening pill packages. Lame picture, but I don't know if my explanation made any sense. Isn't Zeke clever?
