How to dye silk with Kool-Aid and Kaia's "New Dress"

Hi friends... busy day. How's your week going? I can't believe it's already Thursday. Just a quick post about a fun craft I HAVE to try. Oh, this is right up my alley!

How to dye silk with Kool-Aid! Yep. I've never done this and I did not make it up, but it sounds awesome!!

Here's a link for some white silk scarves I've been looking at (but NOT buying, right?) Maybe I can talk Zeke into getting some for my birthday -- that wouldn't be the same as ME buying it. Anyway, let me know if any of you try/or have tried it. It looks fun.

I've also been working on a dress for Kaia. She bought this dress with her own money (at the thrift store) and she LOVES it. Only problem: it's a little too short. It's got a weird asymmetrical hem and well, I think we could add to the length or something so she can wear it for a few more months at least. For the picture, Kaia said she didn't want to smile because, "that's how you're supposed to show clothes". Okay.
My girls and I have been enjoying New Dress A Day and it has most definitely inspired us on this one! You should really check out this blog. Everyday after school Zoe and Kaia will ask me, "What did Marisa make today?" They are so impressed with her creations. Me too. Thanks, Marisa! :)

P.S. I have had several blog friends tell me that my comments on their blogs are showing up in their SPAM. Not sure why, but I just wanted all of you to know. Go check your SPAM, I hope you find a comment from me.:)

  3. Love the dress! and I'm with Tawnya, wouldn't it wash out? And one more thing, I wonder if it's being filtered as Spam because of the advertising things on your blog? Don't really know but I think that's all that's changed. Your's are still going to Spam on my blog as well. Weird.

  4. Sandra, same here. they show up in your email but go to the spam folder on your blog. You have to go in and mark them as "not spam" to get them to show up.

Cute dress! I'm glad you like that blog. She's awesome!

  5. Thanks everyone, especially Sharon, for the info on how to "fix" my spam comments. :) I think it's been happening for awhile.

Tawnya, I'm assuming it doesn't wash out?? I think it's a bit like dyeing Easter eggs -- all of that vinegar should "set" the color? I hope so.
